The International Insurance Congress is a prestigious annual event organised by the Sri Lanka Insurance Institute (SLII) and is the much anticipated event in the Sri Lankan insurance calendar.
This year the event will be held on 19 and 20 November at Cinnamon Grand Colombo with the attendance of Tamsin Mills, Director of Accreditation Services of the Chartered Insurance Institute of the United Kingdom.
The theme of this year’s congress will be ‘Sri Lanka 2020; an insurance services hub – towards achieving excellence’. Organisers of the congress have lined up five important topics for discussion and have been able to attract eminent speakers both from within and overseas to share their invaluable experience and insight on what and how Sri Lanka can promote the country as a global insurance services hub. Speaking to the media SLII President Sanjiv Keerthiratne stated that, “The congress will serve as an ideal platform for all participants to enhance their knowledge of current and future trends in the insurance industry with high-level discussions and networking among industry colleagues.”
Sri Lanka Insurance Institute is an affiliate body of The Chartered Insurance Institute UK, which is the premier institution that certifies insurance professionals across the globe. The membership of the SLII amounts to 2,200 individuals, both qualified and reading for exams.
The SLII plays a pivotal role in characterising the professional behaviour of their membership, who contributes immensely to the growth and development of the Sri Lankan Insurance Industry and countries across the region.
The International Insurance Congress will be attended by CEOs, Senior Executives of the Sri Lankan insurance industry and representatives of international re-insurance organisations.
