Janaka Palapathwala has assumed duties as new Director/General Manager at Nation Lanka Equities (Pvt) Ltd, a subsidiary of Nation Lanka Finance PLC.

Palapathwala who holds a MBA is an Associate member of the International Professional Finance Managers (London). He is an old boy of St. Anne’s College Kurunegala and Trinity College Kandy.

He has a vast experience in the stock brokering field. Starting his career as a money broker,  within a short period of one year he moved to his dream field of stock brokering and joined Lanka Securities (Pvt) Ltd. He has worked in senior positions at Bartleet Malory Stock Brokers and Ceylinco Stock Brokers. In 2004, during the time stock market was sluggish he left the country to head a company in Dubai in the foliage industry. Within a period of six years he gained lots of international experience and exposure as he had to travel to many countries in regard to his company matters.

His strong flair for the stock market did not wither away even though he was in entirely a different trade within this period.

The sudden upward trend in the post war stock market irresistibly tempted him to come back to his desired field and with his arrival in Sri Lanka he started his well-known career at Capital Alliance Securities (Pvt) Ltd.

Soon he was invited back to his former company ‘Ceylinco Stock Brokers (Pvt) Ltd’ under the new management and new name Nation Lanka Equities (Pvt) Ltd, a member of the Colombo Stock Exchange.

Consequent to Palapathwala’s appointment approved by  Securities And Exchange Commission  the members of Nation Lanka Equities (Pvt) Ltd board will comprise of Chandra Sahabandu (Chairman), Bede Fernando and Rajiv Perera.
