Leading insurer Janashakthi continues its quality assurance leadership. They were the First insurer to get ISO status in Sri Lanka as part of its mission to lead the industry in raising standards. In a journey of continuous improvement they recently received the ISO 9001:2008 recertification, following a recertification audit conducted by Bureau Veritas Lanka. Companies that qualify for ISO standards are those that have implemented a rigourous management system of quality assurance.
Janashakthi Managing Director Prakash Schaffter said: “Customers want to be assured that they are doing business with an organisation that can consistently meet or exceed their needs on time. Successfully completing the rigorous process required for ISO 9001 recertification is a clear sign that we are committed to providing a superior quality of service and achieve the highest levels of customer satisfaction.”
The best ISO 9001 documentation combines the quality manual and the quality procedures into a single, user-friendly document. It is tracked by procedures and deliverables for customer satisfaction - through delivery of products that consistently meet customer requirements. Further, it reduces operating costs – through continual improvement of processes and resulting operational efficiencies, Improves stakeholder relationships – including staff, customers and suppliers. It also ensures legal compliance – by understanding how statutory and regulatory requirements impact on the organisation and customers. In addition it improves risk management – through greater consistency and traceability of products and services. Finally it proves business credentials – through independent verification against recognised standards.
Speaking about the recertification, Janashakthi Senior Manager CRM and Research Nilupul Chandrasena said: “The audit process of our own standards led us to attain excellence and conformity with the ISO Quality Management system and the eventual recertification. The process management focus of the ISO 9001:2008 standards enables us to meet customer requirements with a systematic application of knowledge, skills, tools, techniques and systems in a profitable and an efficient manner.”
She added: “We constantly aspire to surpass our customers’ expectations in service delivery, but with these processes in place we can really walk the talk and measure how we really deliver against this goalpost.”
Janashakthi has continually improved the service standards since ISO certification and is currently in the process of expanding the scope of ISO covering all regional offices, head offices and sales offices. The foundation of Janashakthi is based on its underlying pillars including; its strong and solid financial base, prudent underwriting, sound reinsurance support and backing coupled with professional, experienced and highly skilled staff.
