Janashakthi Insurance this week becomes the newest member of Sri Lanka’s eZ Cash island wide network in a strategic tie-up with Dialog Axiata PLC. This partnership will now enable the thousands of Janashakthi Life and General customers to pay their insurance premiums at any of the 12,000+ Dialog eZ Cash merchants spread across the country.
“This tie-up comes as the latest addition to Janashakthi Life and General Premium Payment methods on top of all other options, thereby making life easy for Janashakthi customers. This facility is a boon that becomes invaluable especially in remote rural areas where our customers need not come to a bank or a Janashakthi outlet since Dialog eZ Cash merchant points are spread across the island. Furthermore this also gives our customers the facility to pay their premiums direct, rather than having to depend on Sales Officers,” said Prakash Schaffter, Managing Director of Janashakthi Insurance.
Dr. Hans Wijayasuriya, Group Chief Executive of Dialog Axiata PLC, stated that he was delighted to have Janashakthi Insurance, one of the leading insurers in Sri Lanka, on board with Dialog eZ Cash. “We have no doubt that eZ Cash will add significant value in terms of convenience and 24 x 7 availability island wide, to Janashakthi customers. eZ cash will serve as an enabling technology for the payment of renewal premiums direct from a mobile phone, thereby enabling customers to ensure timely renewal of their policies,” Dr. Wijayasuriya added.
eZ Cash is a state-of-the-art mobile money technology which enables mobile subscribers to maintain a mobile money account in their mobile phone. Using their eZ Cash mobile money account, customers can now send and receive money to/from more than 7.8 million Dialog mobile users, settle utility bills, and make payments for other goods and services, direct from their mobile phone.
Offering its Life Insurance customers one of the widest options in terms of premium payment points, Janashakthi has also tied up with nine partner banks with over 2,000 payment points. They are Sampath Bank, Commercial Bank, Bank of Ceylon, NDB Bank, Hatton National Bank, Peoples Bank, Union Bank and HSBC. Customers also have the chance of walking into any of Janashakthi’s 100+ branch offices, pay via credit card or bank standing orders or pay online through www.janashakthi.com
In June 2012, eZ Cash became Sri Lanka’s first mobile money service after being awarded a license under the aegis of the Payments and Settlements Act No. 28 of 2005. Custodial banking services for Sri Lanka’s pioneering mobile money service are provided by Hatton National Bank PLC (HNB).
Janashakthi Insurance has an exceptional record of financial stability and claim settlement. It has the highest stated capital of Rs. 1.49 billion among quoted insurance companies in Sri Lanka, with Rs. 15.8 billion in assets and over Rs. 7.9 billion in annual gross written premiums. Janashakthi has paid over 20 billion in claims to its policy holders, and is backed by global A-rated re-insurers.
