Janashakthi top sales performers on seven-day France, Switzerland and Italy tour

A group of top general insurance sales professionals from Janashakthi Insurance, some of them with their families recently went on a seven-day tour to Europe covering three countries and providing them a unique experience and unforgettable memories for life. Janashakthi Insurance annually spends over Rs. 60 million to develop its human capital and adopts a very stringent performance measuring criteria in selecting their top performers which includes volume and growth of business, quality of the business underwritten amongst many other business value drivers
From the beautiful architecture of Rome to quaint Venice and picturesque Switzerland, P.C. Wishwaka one of the top performers selected for the tour returned from “the experience of a lifetime,” a trip across Europe.
The tour kicked off from Rome, Italy, where Wishwaka, his family and other members of the tour admired the beautiful art and sculpture in ancient Vatican city, before travelling to admire the lofty St. Anthony’s Basilica and then on to the famous leaning tower of Pisa. The group also found time to stop by the classic marble Trevi Fountain, wander through the stately Coliseum, and even made a pit-stop at Paris, France to view the iconic Eiffel Tower.
Yet the highlight of the tour, Wishwaka said, was a visit to the idyllic resort town of Engelberg in Switzerland- where he and his two children experienced snow for the first time.
“It was an adventure, since we have never experienced temperatures as low as -15 degrees Celsius before. It was different and great!” Wishwaka said.
Engelberg is set in a mountainous area, being fringed by the Urner Alps, with the nearest town a 45 minute drive away. Apart from experiencing the snow, Wishwaka and his family was able to experience the local culture by dressing up in traditional Swiss costume.
Engelberg has been visited by tourists since the 19th century, when it first became internationally renowned as a resort and spa. It is also a haven for skiing enthusiasts, who flock to Engelberg for its combination of modern sports facilities and its beautiful location, as well as its crisp, clean air.
The fast-paced work environment that the insurance sector calls for is counterbalanced by Janashakthi’s commitment towards developing its staff, Wishwaka said, adding that no other company offered its employees with such rich opportunities in terms of travel.
National Sales Manager for Janashakthi in the General segment, Suresh Basnayake, was also selected for the tour along with the other top performers in his team.
“It was an exciting trip. We saw so many places and covered a lot of things. I only wish we had been able to stay even longer!” Suresh said.
Suresh said that the visit to Switzerland was a highlight for him as well as the historic beauty of Paris and Rome.
“All in all it was good fun and great to experience new cultures with our families as well it made the trip that much more memorable,” Suresh said.
Suresh added that the trip was a great motivator, especially for new recruits at Janashakthi, as the company often gave young up-and-comers the chance to travel and gather new experiences.
