Kingsley Bernard appointed Bimputh Finance Chairman

Top professional Kingsley Bernard has been appointed as the Chairman at Bimputh Finance Plc with effect from 1 January 2016.

The appointment as Non Independent, Non Executive Director has been approved by the Central Bank.

Bernard is a veteran marketer and a well known management consultant. He is reading for his PhD with the Management and Science University, Malaysia. 

Bernard counts over 35 years experience in the corporate sector. Some of the positions held were CEO at Bimputh Finance Plc, Group Director Daya Group of Companies, Group Director Maharaja Organisation Ltd., CEO/General Manager Dankotuwa Porcelain Plc., Director Marketing Sri Lanka Export Development Board, Deputy Director Marketing Agriculture Development Authority, Management Consultant Sri Lanka Export Credit Insurance Corporation and Senior Manager, Unilever Sri Lanka.

He holds an MBA from the University of Colombo, Post Graduate Diploma in International Marketing from the Colorado State University, USA, Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Jaffna and a Diploma in Computer Systems Design from CICC, Japan, among other qualifications.

Presently he is the Head, Department of Business Management and Senior Lecturer of Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT). He is also a Board Director of Association for Social Development (ASD).

He was the past Chairman of the Join Business Forum (JBiz) in 2004/5, and was the President of the National Chamber of Exporters for two consecutive years until 2006. He was also the Past President of the Ceramic Manufacturers and Exporters Association and was the first Secretary of the Association for Corporate Social Responsibility.

He was a recipient of many an award for his achievement in social service, academic field and business sector. He was the District Governor of Lions International, District 306B2 in 2009/10. He is a recipient of Lions International President’s Award for Social Service; Gold Medal for Marketing Management (MBA-1986/87). When he was the CEO of Dankotuwa Porcelain Plc, the Company was selected for the Most Outstanding Exporter of the Year Award from the National Chamber of Exporters in three consecutive years.

Daya Group and its Directors own around 90% stakes in Bimputh Finance Plc. With the latest change, the Board of Directors of Bimputh Finance Plc will consist of Chairman, Kingsley Bernard, Executive Director/CEO A.V.H. Silva, A. Hemachandra, S.A.S. Jayasundara, C.K. Gamage and S.A. Godamunne.
