The T+1 nationwide cheque clearing (CITS) and inter-bank electronic payments (SLIPS) infrastructure opened new vistas for consumers, and we envisage a more enterprising future as we equip the public and enterprises to take on the challenges of a globally dynamic and prosperous Sri Lanka. I would like to acknowledge the efforts of the LankaClear team in delivering our promise and for this award for excellence,” said LankaClear Chairperson Priyantha Liyanage. LankaClear General Manager/CEO Sunimal Weerasooriya said: “Our accomplishment at the National Business Excellence awards is testimony to the innovative vision and the commitment and focus of the LankaClear team to make the vision a reality. We are proud of the future we have shaped and it will truly serve to transform how we do business. “Our investments in the latest technology combined with our Vision form robust synergies that will propel Sri Lanka on its current development track.  I encourage our partners in the financial services sector to join our platform to accelerate the convergence of this technology and transact the future.” LankaClear is one of the leading and progressive payment infrastructure solutions providers in the Asian Region, and recently launched the Common ATM Switch (CAS) under the brand name LankaPay, which allows customers of one bank to transact using an ATM of another at convenience and at a nominal fee. LankaPay CAS is a precursor to the launch of the Common Card and Payment Switch (CCAPS), an integrated payment system of multiple domestic payment networks. The system is designed to become the backbone infrastructure for all future electronic transactions, which will facilitate seamless connectivity coupled with online real time payments. CCAPS is implemented under the purview and guidance of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka. With all Sri Lankan banks and financial service providers expected to join the platform in the near future, the service offerings will greatly benefit bank customers and corporates as this would facilitate integrated and cost efficient rapid economic activity. Real-time electronic fund transfers, mobile enabled payments and transactions through Sri Lanka’s very own payment card scheme would soon become a reality with the completion of the CCAPS project. LankaClear Ltd., one of the country’s most successful public-private partnerships is Sri Lanka’s national payment infrastructure provider. The company is jointly owned by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka and all commercial banks. LankaClear’s product offering include the Cheque Imaging Truncation System (CITS), Sri Lanka Inter-Bank Payments System (SLIPS), LankaPay Common ATM Switch and LankaSign Certification Service Provider among several other payment system infrastructure offerings.
