Lankaputhra Development Bank Batticaloa branch shifts to spacious premises

To serve its customers efficiently, Lankaputhra Development Bank (LDB) Batticaloa branch relocated in a spacious and convenient location at No. 28, New Kalmunai Road, Batticaloa.
Lankaputhra Development Bank Chairman H.S. Dharmasiri and senior management of the bank graced the occasion. The branch is planning to offer many new services to cater to the needs of its valued customers in the east.
The Batticaloa Branch was opened in 2009 to serve the customers of the Eastern Province and some of the loan schemes of the bank were tailor made to suit the needs of customers in the province. Loans were granted for fisheries societies, agriculture societies and milk societies under concessionary rate of interest to uplift micro entrepreneurs in the area.
Lankaputhra Development Bank, which is fully-owned by the Government of Sri Lanka and conceptualised under the ‘Mahinda Chinthana,’ was launched in 2006 with the aim of boosting the national economy.
The bank is implementing several projects to promote small and medium scale entrepreneurs and notably among them are project loans, micro finance loan scheme and special project loans.
Apart from these loan schemes, the bank offers the ‘Shasthree’ higher education loan scheme, ‘Aya Saviya’ loan scheme for family members of Government employees to start self-employment, ‘E-Top’ computer loan scheme, ‘Laksaviya’ leasing facility and ‘Laksahana’ pawning facility. Several savings schemes including ‘Lakmuthu’ minor savings, ‘Sandaliya’ women savings and ‘Laksetha’ senior citizens’ account are on offer attractive rate of interest.
The Batticaloa Branch is relocated to actively contribute to the ‘Nagenahira Navodaya’ program by promoting tourism, fisheries and livestock, industries and agriculture sector in the Eastern Province.
In keeping with the ‘Mahinda Chinthana’ vision, the bank is moving forward as a strong Government development bank. The Lankaputhra Development Bank will certainly play catalytic role in the correction of economic and business imbalances prevailing in Batticaloa District.
The bank is now successfully operating branches in Colombo, Hambantota, Polonnaruwa, Kegalle, Kandy, Wennappuwa and Trincomalee.
