Lankaputhra Development Bank boosts entrepreneurs in Kantale

The first stage of the Jathika Viyavasayaka Athwela training program was held in Kanthale recently. Lankaputhra Development Bank together with the National Enterprise Development Authority plans to hold the training program island-wide to enhance the business management knowledge of small and medium sized entrepreneurs.
The coordination of the program was handled by the Marketing and Business Development Division of Lankaputhra Development Bank. Entrepreneurs who have obtained loans, as well as people who are planning to start businesses, participated at the training.
The training program was held at the Kanthale Sarvodaya Auditorium for two days for 35 micro entrepreneurs who are members of the Women’s Development Foundation. Entrepreneurs engaged in self employment projects in agriculture, fresh water fishing, home gardening, making sweets and rearing cows for milk were selected for this training program.
Micro, small and medium entrepreneurs encounter many difficulties when doing business and this training program was launched as a long term solution by the Lankaputhra Development Bank. The program will teach them how to identify a business, prepare a business plan and go over the legal issues encountered when establishing a business.
In addition, finding a market, keeping accounts as well as numerous aspects which have to be considered when establishing and conducting a business and problem solving will be taught.
When conducting a business, other than finding finances, there are many problems entrepreneurs encounter. Entrepreneurs fail due to not managing finances properly and this is one of the major reasons for businesses to fail in Sri Lanka.
Most of the entrepreneurs who participated at the training were of the view that the training will be of immense value to carry out their businesses efficiently. Entrepreneurs thanked Lankaputhra Development Bank and the National Enterprise Development Authority for conducting the Jathika Viyavasayaka Athwela.
Subject knowledge was shared by professionals in the industry. The National Enterprise Development Authority has developed a special training method to train the entrepreneurs. The organisers have planned to hold the Jathika Viyavasayaka Athwela training program island-wide.
