To support and strengthen the entrepreneurs of North Western Province, a special loan scheme was introduced by the Lankaputhra Development Bank recently.
The loan is extended to self employed people who are members of Fishery Societies, Women’s Societies and Cooperative Societies in the North Western Province, through the Wennappuwa branch of Lankaputhra Development Bank.
Recently the loan scheme was launched at the Chilaw Pambala Fisheries Ministry premises in the presence of Minister of Provincial Councils, Road Development, Power and Construction and Fisheries North Western Province Sanath Nishantha by the Lankaputhra Development Bank Chairperson Kumudiniy Kulathunga. The top management of Lankaputhra Development Bank also participated at this occasion.
On this occasion 100 Small and Medium scale Entrepreneurs were given loans, working women were given laptops to improve their IT knowledge and fishermen were given boats and small fishing vessels. The loans are given under the purview of Lankaputhra Development Bank Wennapuwa Branch Manager Udai Ranatunga.
Lankaputhra Development Bank, a fully-fledged government bank, was opened to strengthen the local economy by supporting the entrepreneurs of the country. The bank has initiated many loan schemes to support the Small and Medium scale Entrepreneurs in the country. In addition to the savings scheme for children with attractive interest rates, leasing and pawning services are also offered by the bank.
At present the bank has branches in Colombo, Hambantota, Polonnaruwa, Kegalle, Kandy, Wennappuwa, Trincomalee and Batticaloa. The bank is planning to open a branch in Jaffna to cater to the needs of our valued customers in the region.
