Letters to the Editor - (Governor should answer Leader of the Opposition)

Dear Editor,

I noted with interest Ranil Wickremesinghe’s comment that the current economic situation in the country is due to the Cabraal-missile that has been unleashed on the people.

This is a very strong statement from a former Prime Minister, who is generally considered intelligent and I think the Governor should take it seriously and answer the Leader of the Opposition.

May I therefore suggest that a media institution arranges for a debate between Wickremesinghe and Ajith Nivard Cabraal, so that the public can assess the veracity or otherwise of these allegations.

Although Cabraal is not a politician, I think he has enough political sense to engage in such a debate and I think the country would benefit by such a discussion which I am sure could be conducted in an intelligent fashion.

Perhaps an independent media institution such as Sirasa, Swarnavahini or Derana could invite Wickremesinghe and Cabraal for a public debate on these matters, and if they both accept, I look forward to an interesting debate.
