Nations Trust Bank honours top performers at Nations Magnus Awards 2013

Nations Trust Bank’s annual awards night, the ‘Nations Magnus Awards 2013’ was held on 24 March 2013 at the Grand Ballroom Hilton Colombo. The event saw top performers of the bank being honoured in 12 categories of achievement. The event was theme night titled ‘Titans of Banking’ and was styled to replicate the Oscars. It also included elements of digitalisation to represent the bank’s ongoing digital strategy. Having embraced a strong performance based culture right from its inception, Nations Trust Bank is keen to reward its staff members who are passionate and take pride in excelling in their respective fields. The event saw the gathering of Nations Trust Bank’s corporate management together with the full management cadre along with award nominees and their respective teams. The ‘Magnus Awards’ are given for a number of categories which reflect the pillars on which the bank’s strategy and success is built. The most prestigious individual award of the evening - Employee of the Year award was given under the two categories - Management and Non-Management. This award was judged based on a rigorous selection process conducted by a panel consisting of the top management of the bank. The 2013 Employee of the Year – Management Category was awarded to Damitha Silva, Senior Manager Nations Remittances and the 2013 Employee of the year in the non-management category was awarded to Lakshan Jinasena from the Information Technology Department. Within the individual awards, the Best Service Person of the Year was won by Milinda Silva from Retail Banking while the Best Sales Person of the year was taken by Menuka Piumal of the Liability Sales Unit. A number of teams were also awarded with the various performance based criteria. The Most Profitable Business Unit and Best Revenue Unit were clinched by the Treasury Department and the Treasury FIS Unit, while Trade Services went on to win the awards for the Best Cost Management Unit and the Best Business Partner for 2013. Speaking at the event, Director/CEO Renuka Fernando, congratulating the award winners stated: “It is a very exciting time to be a part of Nations Trust Bank. We are embarking on a challenging route to excellence and we are doing it with the right tools in hand and with the right teams to support us.
