Nations Trust Banks’ Annual Retail Awards Night 2013

The retail and SME division of Nations Trust Bank celebrated the Annual Retail Banking Awards for 2013 recently. The glittering event showcased the company’s outstanding talent, rewarding its top performers who provided their customers with an unmatched service throughout the year. The bank has made a Rs. 2.1 billion profit for the year 2013, Rs. 95.7 billion in deposits and Rs. 82.3 billion in loans and advances. The glowing evening kicked off with the Chief Guest, Director/CEO of Nations Trust Bank, Renuka Fernando being ushered in through a glowing welcome parade. Other members of the corporate and senior management team also participated in this evening of glitter and glamour to celebrate the achievements of the retail banking staff in the bank. The year 2013 was a challenging one for the banking industry. After two years of rapid growth, demand for credit slowed down to a trickle despite an aggressive monetary policy framework adopted by regulators to stimulate investment and economic growth. Despite the adverse impact this had on the banking industry’s growth in revenue and profitability, Nations Trust Bank was able to continue on its growth trajectory recording a 19% and 9% increase in revenue and PAT respectively. The retail and SME division of Nations Trust Bank succeeded in rolling out 14 branches in 2013 with focus on key areas such as expansion of credit and leasing facilities across the branch network. Initiatives such as the launch of “Nations Shopping Debit Card, Nations Salary Saver, Gold loan and Leasing Plus” were also key milestones that enabled Nations Trust Bank to gain recognition as an innovative service provider in the market and to become the most admired financial services brand in Sri Lanka. The Annual Retail Awards ceremony was attended by entire retail and SME banking staff of the bank which was close to a thousand participants and the night showcased spectacular performances in terms of entertainment which enthralled the audience. The evening also witnessed the aesthetic and creative skills of the internal staff of the retail and SME division. Awards were presented to a set of individuals and teams who emerged as overall winners in the Grammy category whose contributions reflected in the fields of sales, profitability, service and business impact. Following were the award winners; Best Branch -Ratnapura Branch, Best Branch Manager- Kasun Thilakaratne, Best Branch Assistant Manager - Madushani Dissanayake, Best Business Banking ARO - Suranga Balasooriya, Best Customer Relationship Officer - Maduranga Perera, Best Customer Inner Circle Ambassador - Amira Rabel, Best Credit Assistant Manager - Namal Priyantha Fernando and Best Credit Manager - Rajiva Mendis, NTB Director/CEO, Renuka Fernando, delivering the key note address, paid a glowing tribute to the staff that have always stood up to challenges, continually exceeding expectations. She also praised them  for their courageous efforts  in delivering what  is promised to their customers with dedication and  reminded of the humble beginnings of the company  and  recalled  how  it  evolved to the present status, emerging  a giant  with the continuous  enthusiasm  and  commitment of the employees. The retail banking unit of NTB could not have concluded their mammoth achievements alone; the awards night also recognised all the support departments across the bank whose efforts facilitated to run the retail and SME business in a much efficient manner throughout the year. In honour of their dedication an award of appreciation was presented to the senior management from all these divisions at this event.
