A seminar on investing in shares, organised by the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka will be held on Wednesday, 31 July 2013 from 1400 h to 1700 h at the Chamber’s Auditorium, 450, D. R. Wijewardene Mawatha, Colombo-10. Everyone has heard of the stock market, but few know how it works. A stock market is a place where shares are bought and sold. Most people understand that a stock market is dominated by traders who speculate on the price of shares to make a profit on the difference between the buying and selling price. But investing in shares is so much more complex than these two basic propositions would suggest, and thus requires some deeper analysis. Colombo Stock Exchange Manager Research Nishantha Hewavithane will explain in detail the following topics; a brief introduction to the Colombo Stock Exchange, overview and the purpose of the share market, investing in listed securities, benefits and pitfalls/warnings when investing in shares. This seminar would be beneficial for potential investors, financial controllers, accountants and the general public. For registration, please contact Vindya/ Suharshini on 4741788 or email [email protected] / [email protected].
