NDB Bank wins two awards at National Business Excellence Awards 2010

NDB Bank emerged the proud recipient of two awards presented at the prestigious National Business Excellence Awards, proving the Bank’s continued dedication towards remaining a financial institution that delivers innovative solutions with ‘best in industry’ service.

NDB Bank was awarded a Silver Award for “Excellence in Business and Financial Performance” and a Merit Award for ‘Business Excellence – Banking & Financial Sector’ at the recently held ceremony.  

Commenting on the achievement NDB Bank’s Chief Executive Officer, Russell de Mel said, “We consider it a great honour to have received recognition at the National Business Excellence Awards for demonstrating excellence in our business practices. The overall stability and performance of NDB Bank over time, has been a great assurance to our customers and stakeholders. We will continue to maintain the highest standards while demonstrating excellence in corporate governance and social responsibility”

The applicants for these awards were evaluated by an eminent panel of judges over the last few months, followed by an in-depth interview. The Business Excellence Awards are presented based on the business and financial performance of an organisation, in the areas of financial stability, steady growth, balanced business portfolio, growth of value addition and performance against the industry. The awards criterion also included excellence in product and process innovation, successful implementation of best practices in performance management, best practices in corporate governance and successful institutionalisation of corporate social responsibility practices.

The National Business Excellence Awards is an annual award competition conducted by the National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka (NCCSL) with a view to recognising the business enterprises, which have demonstrated excellence in business whilst contributing to the economic progress of the country.
