With the New Year bringing in new opportunities, expectations and determinations; NDB introduces the ‘Salary Max’ Current/Savings account, a novel proposition designed to help account holders maximise the returns on their monthly salary. Specially designed for salaried individuals, NDB Salary Max is bundled with a host of value additions that promises bright prospects for the ambitious salaried professionals and executives.
NDB Salary Max account holders will be encouraged to open a Real Saver Account to facilitate mandatory savings thus inculcating a savings habit. Through this combined account offering, NDB motivates the account holders to manage their salary better, by maintaining the Salary Max current/savings account as a transaction account while a desired portion of the salary could be transferred to the Real Saver account where it will accrue bonus interest and grow into a savings fund.
Commenting on NDB Salary Max, Chief Operating Officer of NDB Indrajit Wickramasinghe said: “With the launch of NDB Salary Max, we are proposing a new formula for saving to help salaried individuals make the most of their monthly earnings. Most people have the desire to save but struggle to do so because they either lack the discipline to set aside a savings portion monthly or follow an imprudent mechanism. We have observed that the common approach followed by many is to first cover expenses and then try to save what is remaining of the salary. This approach is bound to fail since, having frequent access to excess funds will only encourage more spending and thus there will be very little left to save towards the end of the month. To this end, NDB Salary Max is a fail-safe proposition that persuades account holders to save first in an account that is not accessed frequently, while retaining the balance in the transaction current/savings account that could be easily accessed via ATMs, internet banking facility as well as a free cheque book in the case of current accounts.
“Amassing national savings is a passion that NDB has been pursuing for several years; with a vision to build a nation of savers that contribute to the growth and stability of the country’s economy. As a bank dedicated for national development, we believe it is our responsibility to encourage savings not only in monetary terms but also in the form of responsible consumption of resources. The “Ithiri karamu, api hademu, rata hadamu” national savings drive initiated by NDB in 2011, spread the message of saving to people of all walks of life; extending the savings thought process much beyond monetary terms to inspire people to eliminate wastage in their day to day lives. In furtherance of this initiative and with a strong belief that the habit of saving is essential in taking the country towards prosperity; we have been continuously introducing novel savings accounts and propositions to the public. NDB Salary Max is the latest addition to this gamut of rewarding options that is sure to benefit the salaried individuals in Sri Lanka,” Wickramasinghe added.
NDB Salary Max account holders will have access to a host of added benefits including; eligibility for a Salary Max loan facility equal to the net salary remitted to the Salary Max account at the completion of three monthly salary remittances, the option to obtain an NDB Dream Maker Personal Loan and a Viyana Home Loan at preferential interest rates, free access to the account via selected other bank ATMs island wide, option to obtain a credit card with seasonal benefits, a free financial guide with opportune advice on savings, borrowing and investments, 50% discount on bank drafts along with free setting up of the first standing order from the account.
Through ‘NDB Salary Max’ the bank hopes to inculcate a saving habit amongst the salaried individuals whilst providing better control of their spending through the combined account offering. With such initiatives to promote the savings habit, NDB hopes that all Sri Lankans will be inspired to be active ingredients of Sri Lanka’s economic progress through their individual efforts to amplify the national savings base.
NDB Salary Max account promises the beginning of a new chapter in the lives of the salaried individuals and can be opened at any of the 78 NDB Bank branches island wide.
