NDB propels growth in Nelliady

NDB extended its footprint in the Northern Province with the opening of its 71st branch in Nelliady recently. The new branch opening enumerates the bank’s continued commitment towards the rapid post-conflict economic development taking place in the region.

Nelliady is most commonly known for its precious resource; the rich, fertile soil that produces bountiful harvests of paddy, vegetables and chillies amongst a variety of other crops. This thriving agricultural community enriches the blooming economy of Nelliady, making it a significant contributor to the post-war economic impetus of Sri Lanka.

NDB’s branch in Nelliady will be geared to support this blossoming agricultural community which spells out many entrepreneurial opportunities. Through its newest branch, the aspiring small and medium scale entrepreneurs in Nelliady will have access to customised SME banking solutions coupled with effective entrepreneurial education and advisory services.

Some of the SME banking services that will be offered include long-term loans on concessionary interest rates, short-term working capital loans, supplier finance facilities, importer/exporter funding facilities as well as distributor finance facilities.

NDB will also focus on developing the micro entrepreneurs and cottage industrialists in the region through its livelihood development scheme ‘Divi Aruna,’ which promotes financial inclusion for the smaller enterprises in a bid to develop and upgrade them towards the SME sector. The bank laid an initial step towards this long term endeavour in the region with the distribution of Divi Aruna Micro Finance Loan Schemes to 50 deserving farmers at a special ceremony held subsequent to the unveiling of the new branch.

Further, NDB will offer a gamut of retail banking facilities including current and savings accounts, fixed deposits, pawning services, vehicle leasing as well as bancassurance to the residents of Nelliady; to help them grow and secure their wealth while enjoying easy access and convenience of banking with automated facilities such as Visa Debit Cards, Internet Banking and Western Union Money Transfer Services.  

NDB’s Nelliady branch is located at No 109, Jaffna Road and will be open for extended hours from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays, adding to the convenience of traders and businessmen in the region.
