NDB-Shareek wins ‘Emerging Islamic Finance Entity of 2015’ at IFFSA

NDB-Shareek, the Islamic Banking unit of National Development Bank Plc, won the Gold award for Emerging Islamic Finance Entity of 2015 at the Islamic Finance Forum of South Asia (IFFSA), held at Galadari Hotel Colombo on 27 July. 

Another successful venture of NDB which was formed to offer alternative financing solutions to its growing customer base, NDB-Shareek was launched on 12 August 2014. NDB-Shareek became a profitable business unit within a short span of time and was able to win the confidence of its depositors in terms of distributing the highest profits on customer deposits.

The IFFSA award ceremony was the first annual event that recognised the financial institutions and individuals that have excelled in the Islamic Banking and Finance industry within the South Asian region. The event was well-attended by many officials from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and the Maldives.

The award ceremony was organised by UTO.Edu Consult, ADL Capital with the assistance of KPMG, which had acted as a facilitator to assess the process of selecting winners judged by a panel of independent industry experts.
