NDB’s 80th branch opens in Uragasmanhandiya

NDB extended its reach within the island with the opening of its 80th branch in Uragasmanhandiya; offering a wide range of financial services to residents of a thriving agrarian expanse. The opulent soil of Urasagasmanhandiya nourishes a bountiful stretch of Cinnamon plantations. The industrious farming community in the region continue to strengthen the Sri Lankan economy with diverse agrarian produce, especially cinnamon cultivation that contributes to national production and export income. The town is home to many small and medium growers and traders who with their contribution towards the industrial activity play a significant role in the economic development of Sri Lanka.

NDB stepped into Uragasmanhandiya with the aim to empower its people and support them to propel the economic development of the town with a diverse range of banking products and financial expertise. To the small and medium entrepreneurs in Uragasmanhandiya NDB’s new branch will offer a range of SME financing facilities including; industry specific credit facilities, short term working capital loans, supplier and distributor financing and long term funding coupled with advisory services in the areas of banking, industry knowledge, wealth creation as well as capital management. With NDB’s Cinnamon to the World initiative, the new branch will focus on developing and supporting the Cinnamon cultivators in the area with the objective uplifting their livelihoods and contributing towards the growth of the industry. With its new branch in Uragasmanhandiya, NDB will also focus on developing the micro entrepreneurs and cottage industrialists in the region through its livelihood development scheme ‘Divi Aruna’; which promotes financial inclusion for the smaller enterprises in a bid to develop and upgrade them towards the SME sector. The bank laid an initial step towards this long term endeavour with the initiation of special workshop aimed at developing the technical and financial knowledge of the root level cinnamon growers in the area held prior to the unveiling of the new branch. NDB Uragasmanhandiya branch will offer a host of Retail Banking services, such as Current and Savings Accounts, Children’s Savings Accounts, NRFC/RFC Accounts, Fixed Deposits, Housing Loans, Education Loans, Leasing facilities, Credit and Debit Cards, Pawning services as well as Western Union Money transfer services coupled with the convenience of Internet Banking and a Call Centre that operates 24 hours; so that customers in and around the area would have access to a wide array of modern banking solutions to help them meet their individual financial needs. NDB’s newest branch located at No 131, Main Street, Uragasmanhandiya, will be open from Monday to Thursday between 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will offer added convenience of extended banking hours until 6 p.m. on Fridays to the residents of the area.
