NTB awards excellence

The Retail and SME Division of Nations Trust Bank celebrated the Annual Retail Banking Awards recently amidst an evening of glitz and glamour. This unit has made a contribution to the bank’s bottom line with a Rs. 200 million profit before tax, Rs. 50 billion in deposits and Rs. 10 billion in assets. This event was the platform at which staffers who excelled were recognised.



The glowing evening kicked off with Chief Guest NTB Director/CEO Saliya Rajakaruna, Deputy CEO Renuka Fernando, and DGM Retail and SME Banking Keshini Jayawardena being ushered in through a glowing welcome parade escorted by the Senior Management of the Retail and SME Division. The lighting of a high tech lamp with the use of an iPad took place in the form of flames depicting the ignition of team spirit.

This division succeeded in rolling out the highest number of branches in 2011 with focus on key areas such as expansion of credit facilities across the branch network, the roll out of Pawning services and the signing up of many worldwide partners to broad base remittance services. Initiatives such as the launch of ‘Nations Business Centres’ were also a key milestone that enabled Nations Trust Bank to gain recognition as  an SME player in the market catering to the business community.

The evening was attended by the Corporate and Senior Management of the bank and the night showcased spectacular performances in terms of entertainment which enthralled the audience. They also witnessed a hi-tech atmosphere throughout the event which was created using video mapping technology.

Awards were presented to a set of individuals and teams who emerged as overall winners in the Grammy Category whose contributions reflected in the fields of sales, profitability, service and business impact.

The award winners were: Best Personal Banking Centre (PBC) for 2011 – Wattala PBC, Best Business Banking Branch – Corporate Branch, Best Business Banking ARO – Samantha Chandrasena, Best Customer Relationship Officer – Christina Jacob, Best Customer Inner Circle Ambassador – Shazney Faiyaz, Best Credit Assistant Manager – Hiruni Perera, Best Credit Manager – Naveen Anthonypillai, Best Branch Assistant Manager – Chinthaka Chandrasiri, Best Branch Manager – Roshan Gunawardena and Best Branch – Cinnamon Gardens Branch.

Commenting at the awards ceremony, Rajakaruna stated: “This team of professionals put together an excellent performance in 2011 to achieve their targets. I am proud that our Retail and SME Division is equipped with such high performing individuals with positive attitudes whose untiring efforts has shown results and have rewarded them with recognition this evening.”

The Retail Banking Unit of NTB could not have concluded their mammoth achievements alone; the awards night also recognised all the support departments across the bank whose efforts facilitated to run the Retail and SME business in a much efficient manner throughout the year. In honour of their dedication an award of appreciation was presented to the Senior Management from all these divisions at this event.
