Nations Trust Bank, growing on a platform of customer convenience and service was named Joint Runner-Up at the recent ‘National Business Excellence Awards 2011’ in the banking sector category.
The awards event was a full house with ADB Country Director Rita O’ Sullivan as Chief Guest. It was held at the Colombo Hilton on 30 November among a gathering of top rated corporate and bank participants. The award was a first for NTB.
It recognises not only the commitment of NTB to deliver excellence but also its superior position on a national scale in highly competitive market place. Only little more than 10 years old, it has been able to win a prestigious nationally recognised award organised by the National Chamber of Commerce.
The Annual National Business Excellence Awards is a competition held with the view to recognising enterprising businesses that demonstrate excellence whilst contributing to the economy of the country. It recognises businesses that have created a capacity for economic growth, employment generation, built sustainable market competitiveness, demonstrated their capacity to invest and have institutionalised best practices and business excellence.
The 2011 NBE Awards is the eighth consecutive event. The programme is now recognised as the premier awards programme, which recognises the best performers in Sri Lankan businesses, evaluated through a stringent process by an independent panel of judges.
Firstly the entry application is evaluated based on pre-determined criteria aided by a software programme. Thereafter competitors appear before a panel of judges for a focused interview.
Weighted marks of both evaluations are then placed before the judges for their final determination.
“At Nations Trust Bank we consistently aim to provide exceptional service no matter who our customer is. We are also proud of our commitment and contribution towards the national economy, specially the SME Sector. This award is simply a stepping-stone towards what we can achieve as a group of individuals.
I am proud to say that at NTB, performance is always a team effort mixed with good leadership. That is what has brought us to this great moment in our short history today,” said NTB CEO Saliya Rajakaruna speaking on receipt of the award.
Having been recognised internationally as well by World Finance Banking Awards, NTB is confident that its dynamic team and teamwork will lead to greater milestones in the not too distant future.
