NTB opens first banking centre at Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment

Nations Trust Bank reached a new landmark with the opening of the very first Banking Centre at the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE).
As Sri Lanka’s fastest growing banking network now serving customers in 63 locations, Nations Trust Bank has ventured into the area of Remittances recently with the objective of contributing to the inflow of the country’s foreign exchange income.
In line with the Government’s vision of promoting more skilled workers under the theme of ‘Migration with Dignity’ and with the objective of achieving $10 billion remittances by year 2016, Nations Trust Bank will be working very closely with the SLBFE, Central Bank and other institutions to facilitate reaching this milestone.
Commenting at the opening DGM Retail and SME Keshini Jayawardena said: “As we partner with the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE), the foremost organisation that caters to the welfare of Sri Lanka’s migrant workers, we are pleased to inform you that this Nations Trust Bank Banking Centre will assist potential migrant workers by providing basic training on banking and financial matters, assist in opening of accounts both LKR Savings and NRFC and also provide migrants with a co-branded debit card with the bureau, communicate the remittance partners’ information and receive financial advice and information on other products and services that Nations Trust Bank offers. All customers who open accounts at this banking counter will be entitled for free mobile and internet banking.
“To date the bank has partnered with world’s leading money transfer organizations such as MoneyGram, Sigue, Ria, Xpress Money, UAE Exchange, TransFast, etc., and many country specific exchange houses to facilitate Sri Lankan migrant workers to send their money to their loved ones back home.”
