“My first venture was to manufacture coconut shell charcoal. In 1998, I started exporting coir pith blocks. The first loan of Rs. 25,000 I obtained from People’s Bank was the pillar of success to my business.”
Today, running a fruitful business, Ruwan Udaya Shantha is one of the country’s leading exporters of coir pith blocks. Apart from that, he manufactures a range of coir pith related products including coco disks, briquette, grow bags, open top and 5kg balls.
