People’s Bank unveils latest Small & Medium Scale Business Centre in Ampara

People’s Bank declared open its latest Small and Medium Scale Business Centre at the Ampara Regional Head Office recently, under the

patronage of the People’s Bank’s Deputy General Manager Cooperative & Development Banking T.A. Ariyapala. Launched under the budget proposal of 2012, following the agenda of the Mahinda Chinthana Idiri Dekma, this new centre aims to uplift small and medium scale business sectors by providing them with adequate loan facilities for agriculture based products, livestock, apparel, fisheries, tourism, construction and a host of other business sectors. People’s Bank has taken steps to open such centres in all districts, and the Ampara centre is the ninth such entity. The opening ceremony was also attended by Ampara District Additional District Secretary K. Wimalanadan, People’s Bank Chief Manager (SME) Wickrama Narayana, Regional Manager (Ampara) E. Somachandra, Manager W. Muthugla, bank officials and a large number of entrepreneurs.
