Protagonists of credit management meet at annual CRIB parley

The Sri Lanka Credit Information Bureau’s annual refresher with the financial industry, a two-tiered event that brings together compliance officers and CEOs of banks and finance companies, will take place this Thursday at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel.

Considered a significant symposium in the facilitation of a more effective credit risk management regime while making the credit market more competitive, the day’s events will attract the crème of the financial industry.  

“We are making good of CRIB’s promise to deliver credit information on the cutting-edge and this annual event is an invaluable window of opportunity in bringing the financial industry up to speed with the latest advances in credit information technology,” CRIB General Manager and veteran banker Gamini Karunaratne said. In creating a responsible and credit-worthy society, CRIB believes that the financial industry has to evolve with the fast changing world.  New technologically driven information tools that promote a more efficient credit culture are of paramount importance and CRIB uses this window as a launching pad for such innovative tools and as a forum to educate the industry on efficient credit management, Karunarathne added.

Industry’s best resource persons will be in attendance to educate the local industry of the advances made globally in information and credit management along with emerging trends and best practices.  CRIB is widely reputed to have one of the best credit information repositories in the Asia Pacific region and credited for introducing some industry benchmarks. Chief Guest and Keynote Speaker for this year’s event is Surapol Opasatien, CEO of National Credit Bureau of Thailand who is slated to bring a unique exposure to the Sri Lankan financial industry on the subjects of portfolio development and value-added services.   Dr. Sarath Amunugama, Deputy Minister of Finance, will also address the annual sessions which will also feature prominent personalities of the likes of Koshi Mathai, IMF Country Representative, and Miguel Lienas, Senior Vice President, South Asia and Middle East of Dun and Bradstreet.
