Ramanan appointed acting CEO/MD at People’s Merchant Finance

People’s Merchant Finance PLC board member G. Ramanan has been appointed as the Acting CEO and Managing Director of the company.

The company stated that the interim move was made until a suitable candidate could be selected to fill the vacancy created following the recent resignation of former CEO Dr. Chandrasena Samarasinghe.

Ramanan is an experienced corporate finance professional who counts over 18 years of experience in Insurance, Banking, Fund Management, Portfolio Management, Investment Banking and Corporate Finance.  He presently serves as the Managing Director and CEO of Capital Trust Financial and Capital Trust Wealth Management.

Ramanan also served as Chief Executive Officer of HNB Securities, Head of Investment Banking of HNB and the Founder and Managing partner of Leopard Capital Sri Lanka. Ramanan is a CFA holder, an associate member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (UK) and also holds a MBA from the University of Chicago - Booth School of Business in addition to being selected as the “CIMA Manager of the Year” in 2007. The Board of Directors of People’s Merchant Finance are comprised of Chairman P.A.A. Panditharatne, J.P. Amara-tunga, T. Wickramasinghe, A.P. Weerasinghe, M.M.S.K. Rajapakse, S.V.  Amarasekara (Independ-ent Non Executive Director), N.C. Peiris (Independent Non Executive Director), S.M.L.K. Sangakkara (Non Executive Director) and G. Ramanan (Acting CEO and Managing Director).
