The Regional Development Bank as a State bank, has launched two specialised savings accounts named ‘RDB Kakulu’ and ‘RDB Yowun’ to establish the future economic stability of the Sri Lankan sons and daughters and is working on establishing the lesson of economy from the tender age and the saving habit.

While working with children on various avenues such as useful gifts and other encouragements to get them used to thrift and saving, RDB has not forgotten to facilitate the ease of saving, establishing savings centres in close proximity to schools, Dhamma Schools and pre-schools.

Encouragement is given in various ways for the children of the nation that achieve victories not only in the education sector but also for those who display sports and aesthetic aptitudes and the bank has introduced an art competition named ‘RDB Sith Roo Rata’ for pre-school children to express their thoughts about their tomorrow to mark the World Children’s Day.

Through that, as bankers we are endeavouring to keep children, who can be compared to flower buds, happy, ensure their security, and supply them with guidelines to bring to light their hidden talents making the World Children’s Day meaningful while shouldering the efforts to build ‘A Benevolent Land that Dazzles the World with Child Friendly Environment’, making every day a Children’s Day throughout the year.

Sri Lanka celebrated the World Children’s Day on 1 October under the theme ‘A Benevolent Land that Dazzles the World with Child Friendly Environment’.

RDB said 1 October is the best day to consider the things that have not been done for our children by us, rather that the things that have been done.

“A positive initiative about child safety should be established not only at home and school but everywhere else. An upheaval of intelligence should be established about the attitudes and the worth of the children. Our belief is that males should take the forefront in the decision-making processes in changing the people attitude-wise and giving them the knowledge and the understanding of the value of the children’s generation and empowering rules and regulations for the protection of the same. As citizens, it is our duty to act responsibly towards not only our children, but also the children of the entire nation,” RDB said.
