S. Jeyavarman assumes role of CEO at Orient Wealth

S. Jeyavarman a name synonymous with the local financial industry assumed role as CEO of Orient Wealth, a newly established company to provide professional fund management services under the Orient Capital Group umbrella. With 30 years of senior managerial experience in the financial sector Jeyavarman not only brings with him plethora of experiences but also in-depth knowledge in the field of Unit Trust and a well recognised reputation in the industry.

Professionally qualified as a Chartered Accountant Jeyavarman started his career in 1981, when he joined Forbes and Walker Ltd as an Accountant. Later on he became the Managing Director of Forbes Money Brokers Ltd. In 1991 he joined National Asset Management Limited (NAMAL) which was newly opened at the time for the role of Fund Manager and after few years became the CEO of the company. At NAMAL, Jeyavarman was able to come out with innovative investment funds that became renown within the industry, such as a Balanced Fund, Growth Fund, Income Fund, Money Market Fund, Gilt Fund, Optima Fund etc.

After a service of 20 years Jeyavarman joined Orient Wealth in February, 2012 with the means of experiencing a change in his career and building the company from the beginning and taking it to the top as he is known to do in the industry. In his new appointment at Orient Growth, Jeyavarman hopes to bring out strategies that will enable people to invest more in capital markets in a convenient way. He believes that the public in Sri Lanka needs to invest in the capital market instruments to meet their growing future expenses in a risk controlled manner.

Jeyavarman is a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka, Chartered Management Accountants of Sri Lanka and a Member of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investments of the United Kingdom. He has served as the President of the Unit Trust Association of Sri Lanka for many years. He has participated in number of local and international fund management forums and was trained in unit trust management at DBS Asset Management Ltd in Singapore and Capital International in USA.

Orient Wealth was officially established in February 2012 with a focus on developing innovative investment schemes to help small investors to invest in the capital markets conveniently. The primary target audience of the company is the investors who are interested in the capital markets through prudent management. The company will engage in providing professional fund management services to institutional clients as well. With a multi-talented team that carries out investment research activities on macro environment, industry sectors as well as corporate research, the company will make informed investment choices and ensure that over all risks are effectively managed.

Orient wealth is a fully owned subsidiary of Orient Capital Limited (OCL) which is a 100% equity financed company with well diverse financial services to individual and corporate clients with a highly experienced board of directors and senior management.
