The International ARC Awards celebrating its 25th year is known in the financial industry as the ‘Academy Award of Annual Reports’.  It is the largest international competition honouring excellence in annual reporting.

The competition is open to corporations, government agencies, non-profit organisations and associations involved in producing annual reports.

Sampath Bank was the only banking company from Sri Lanka to receive a Gold award under the overall category of the annual reports.

The awards are competed by reputed organisations around the world and this year about 60 countries participated in the competition.

The award seeks to recognise and honour financial credibility and transparency among companies in disclosing their accounts to the shareholders.

The ARC Awards Competition is unique in that each annual report is judged against itself, based on its success in communicating its company’s story. Judging is based neither on corporate profitability nor production, but on the values of creativity, clarity, effectiveness, and excellence as symbolised by the ARC Awards.

Some of the elements considered in the judging of the annual reports include: cover design, president’s letter, interior design, clarity of written text, presentation of corporate information, expression of financial data, and how well the spirit of the organisation is communicated.

Sampath Bank’s Annual Report 2010 composed under the theme ‘No Boundaries’ was bestowed the ‘Gold’ Award in the ‘Banks – National’ category at a gala champagne cocktail reception ceremony held on the 22 September 2011 in Plaza Hotel, New York, USA.
