Sampath Bank wins Silver for Best Web 2014

Sampath Bank’s official website www.sampath.lk was presented the Silver Award in the Corporate, Banking, Finance and Insurance category at the BestWeb.lk 2014 competition organised by the LK Domain registry, which was recently held in Colombo. The Bank emerged victorious among hundreds of entries, who were vying for honours in the same category. The Bestweb.lk competition recognises and promotes Sri Lankan websites for their creativity, technological expertise, quality of content and the use of cutting edge technology that is user friendly and compatible with a wide range of platforms. Launched in 2009 by the LK Domain Registry, the competition encourages Sri Lankan companies to enhance the quality of their web identity. Commenting on the most recent recognition of Sampath Bank services, Deputy General Manager – Marketing and Business Development Tharaka Ranwala said: “The Sampath Bank website was recently re-launched to make a customer’s banking experience faster and more convenient by providing a user-friendly interface on par with international standards, and it is truly gratifying to be recognised for these efforts. Some of these award winning features include site introduction tools for fresh users, need based product structure, a product recommendation tool known as the ‘product wizard’ and financial calculators for both loans and for saving accounts.” Panels of judges, experts in their respective fields equipped with broad web knowledge, are appointed for each category and decide on 70 per cent of the final score. Contestants are judged on technical performance, design, content, interactivity, security features, browser compatibility, and availability and additional points are awarded for providing access to disabled persons, social network integration and the use of new technology. Votes by the general public and web traffic make 20% and 10% of the final score, respectively. The new informative design eliminates the hassle of physically visiting Sampath Bank for more information and has become a key information tool for Sri Lankans living overseas as they are now able to learn about new products and services, whilst managing their accounts from any part of the world. Sampath Bank customers can access the new website through Internet Explorer version 8 and above, Google Chrome, Fire Fox and other latest browsers which allow maximum performance for all the functionalities of Sampath Bank website. In keeping with its promise ‘We Present Your Future’, the Bank has now offered its customers a user friendly platform and easy access to the bank’s website and on-line transactions across mobile phones, personal computers and tablets.
