Seylan Bank appoints Isuru Balapatabendi as new Non-Executive Director

Seylan Bank PLC announced the appointment of Himashe Isuru Balapatabendi as a Non Executive Director of the bank with effect from 27 November 2013. This appointment follows the vacancy created by the resignation of Piyadasa Kudabalage from the bank’s Board of Directors. An Attorney-at-Law by profession and a Director on the Board of the Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation, Balapatabendi holds an L.L.M. from the University of Pittsburgh, School of Law, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States of America. He has functioned as a State Counsel, Attorney General’s Department of Sri Lanka and as a Diplomat in the Embassy of Sri Lanka in The Hague, Netherlands (2008-2010). He also serves as an advisor to the Deputy Minister of Investment Promotion. A product of Royal College Balapatabendi was an active athlete and excelled in rugby and swimming both at Royal College and at the Sri Lanka Law College.
