Seylan Bank last Saturday conducted a massive island-wide door-to-door-campaign where over 3,000 staff members from the bank’s 150 island-wide branches personally promoted the savings habit among a large number of the general public of Sri Lanka. Seylan Bank’s senior management joined hands with the rest of the staff and took to the streets of Sri Lanka, interacting with thousands of people and carefully explaining the importance of prudent savings as a cushion for the uncertainties of the future, as well as for future prosperity. This was further reinforced by the introduction of the Seylan SURE benefit scheme for customers which was recently re-launched by the bank for its savings and current accounts. Almost hot on the heels of World Thrift Day which is observed on 31 October every year, the feedback and response from the public was very encouraging and positive, making this one of the most successful campaigns in the banking industry in recent times. Another uniqueness of the campaign was that it was covered in real time through the bank’s digital marketing and social media channels making it another first in the industry.
