Seylan Bank takes credit and debit cards to next level with real value additions, innovations

Seylan Bank was one of the pioneers to introduce credit card use in Sri Lanka. Currently about 800,000 (Debit and credit), card users continue to benefit from cards issued by the Bank.

Seylan Bank has now embarked on its next phase of growth through a sustained stream of value addition to its card holders through a Number of discounts schemes, widest discount network and launch of new and innovative products and services within the credit cards portfolio.

Seylan Bank Deputy General Manager – Marketing Tilan Wijeyesekera at mentioned that the latest innovative product to be launched by Seylan Bank was the Seylan pre-paid gift card. This is the first time that a card of this nature with so many benefits is being launched in Sri Lanka.

Wijeyesekera stated, “We are constantly focusing on offering solutions to our customers and in this instance our insight was that many people have a dilemma when they consider options of giving gifts to a friend or a loved one. Therefore we came up with the ideal solution which is a gift which is good to give and even greater to receive as the receiver of the card can buy anything they want from wherever they want. This is also an ideal gift option for any season or event be it a Christmas gift, a birth day gift, a wedding gift etc. where anyone whether you’re a current Seylan Bank customer or not could simply walk into any of their branches and obtain this loaded card with any value you need either by paying cash or by transferring money from your account, if you’re a Seylan Bank customer. You could then gift it to anyone you want to and have a peace of mind that the receiver will truly value it since they can use it at any credit or debit card accepting outlet.”

The receiver will also get many other benefits as this card will give the receiver access to over 150 merchant partners of Seylan Bank with over 500 outlets Islandwide, who offer various discounts. Therefore if you load a card with Rs. 1000 and walk in to an outlet with a 30% discount for Seylan Cards you will essentially have a value of Rs. 1300.

In addition this card could also be used as an ATM card in an emergency if you simply want the cash. Another unique feature is that you could even re-load this card if you want to, by simply walking in to a Seylan Bank Branch. Unlike various gift vouchers at various shopping locations or merchants who have a very short validity period this card is kept valid for six years.

What’s more, if you specify a mobile number every time the card is used at a merchant point an SMS will be sent to the relevant mobile phone.

In addition to the Gift Card Seylan Bank was the first bank to launch a major promotion for the season with a major 30% discount scheme.

In addition Seylan Bank Launched a new campaign with long term discounts ranging from 5% to 30% being offered at over 150 merchants partners with over 500 outlets islandwide. This is by far the largest discount network offered by any debit and credit card in Sri Lanka.

Another innovative solution offered by Seylan Bank recently included the VBV or verified by Visa solution which provides the ultimate in security when buying products and services on line using your debit or credit cards.

Seylan Banks value addition to its credit cards does not end there as they also included Seylan Credit and Debit cards in their Seylan Thagi Pita Thagi rewards scheme. If a Seylan Credit or Debit card holder shops for a value of over Rs. 2500, they will receive a chance to enter the monthly draw. The monthly prizes on offer include a Rs. one million, motor bikes, sofa sets, refrigerators,  LCD TV’s, home entertainment systems, gas cookers, gold sovereigns, laptops and washing machines.

The grand prize is a luxury house worth Rs. 15 million.
