Kuruwita is a fast emerging economic hub in the Sabaragamuwa Province, located in the Ratnapura District and is part of the Eheliyagoda electorate. The Local Government Authority is the Kuruwita Pradeshiya Sabha, catering to a population of over 100,000.
The core business activities in the area could be considered the traditional tea and rubber cultivation and the bustling city is world renowned for its precious gems extracted from the mines scattered across the locality. Gem trading and cutting also generates a considerable income in the area whilst the Kuruwita IPZ has given a significant boost to its economic growth during the past decade.
Seylan’s ATM is located in a novel utility and leisure centre consisting of banks, a proposed mini super market, a modern filling station, which is considered as the largest in the country consisting of 13 pumps, in addition to a well patronised restaurant.
Further, this is Seylan Bank’s 137th ATM which will cater to a large clientele in the area and would be of immense value to those who travel via Kuruwita, since this strategically installed ATM is the only available ATM, conveniently located as it is, facing the main road (A4), from Homagama up to Pelmadulla.
With over 900,000 debit and credit card holders, Seylan Bank is today one of the largest card issuers in Sri Lanka. Withdrawals from Seylan’s ATM’s can be made using any Visa, Master or Cirrus network connected card.
