Siromi joins HNB Assurance Board

HDFC Bank Chairperson Siromi Wickramasinghe has been appointed to the Board of Directors of HNB Assurance PLC with effect from 2 October 2013. Siromi Noelle Wickramasinghe has been an Attorney-at-Law of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka since 1975 and has 32 years of multi-functional and progressive experience in the Sri Lankan banking sector. She is also a Company Secretary and a Commissioner for Oaths and has extensive international exposure with experience in global industry best practices. She is a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute, UK. She joined Hatton National Bank PLC in 1981 and held many managerial positions and was a Deputy General Manager at the time of leaving in year 2007. She was also the General Manager/CEO at Lankaputhra Development Bank for a period of 18 months and held the position of Chairperson of Ceybank Asset Management Company, a subsidiary of Bank of Ceylon. She has served as a Director at Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC and the Sri Lanka Banks’ Association Guarantee Ltd. She was also a Commission Member of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka (SEC). She is presently the Head of the Credit Counselling Centre and a Director of Agstar Fertilisers PLC. With her appointment, the Board of Directors of HNB Assurance PLC consists of Dr. Ranee Jayamaha (Chairperson), Manjula de Silva (Managing Director), M.U. De Silva, Pratapkumar de Silva, Sarath Ratwatta, Mahendra Jayasekera, K. Balasundaram, Jonathan Alles, Dilshan Rodrigo and Siromi Wickramasinghe. HNB Assurance PLC is one of the fastest growing insurance companies in Sri Lanka with a network of 51 branches. HNBA is also rated within the Top 100 Brands and Top 100 companies in Sri Lanka by LMD and HNB Assurance recently won international awards for brand excellence and HR excellence and also won five main awards for its 2012 Annual Report at the award ceremonies organised by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka, ACCA Sri Lanka (Association of the Chartered Certified Accountants) and SAFA (South Asian Federation of Accountants)
