Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation (SLIC) 2011 Annual Report won two prestigious awards at the recently held 2011 Vision Awards in New York. The awards – a Gold Award in the Insurance category and a Bronze Award for the most improved Annual report in the Asia Pacific region – are especially significant as the Annual Report was conceptualised and designed to mark SLIC’s 50th Anniversary of operations.

Commenting on the award SLIC Managing Director/CEO Mohan De Alwis noted, “These awards are testament to SLIC’s commitment to communicating in an engaging and transparent manner with our stakeholders. It is also a celebration of our contribution to the Sri Lankan economy in our 50 years of operation.”

The Vision Awards is organised by the League of American Communication Professionals (LACP) and is seen as one of the premier annual report competitions in the world.  SLIC Executive Director P. Kudabalage added, “This being our Golden Jubilee we wanted an annual report to highlight the crucial role that we play in the insurance industry, and indeed the overall economy. To have the annual report recognised at such a prestigious international forum is, therefore, highly rewarding.”   The report was conceptualised and designed by Smart Media, The Annual Report Company. Smart Media Chairman Dr. Vijith Kannangara said, “LACP’s Vision Awards is one of the two largest and most respected global annual report judging and awarding events. Such awards drive home the necessity for an organisation to use its annual report to engage its stakeholders.”   Sri Lanka Insurance is a state owned institution functioning under the Ministry of Finance. As the pioneering insurer, Sri Lanka Insurance has the most experienced technical knowledge base in the country. The company is renowned for its financial stability and strong re-insurance.
