Someswaran new Chairman at SMB Leasing

T. Someswaran has been appointed as the Chairman of SMB Leasing Plc with immediate effect.

The decision to this effect was made by the Board at its meeting on Wednesday.

Executive Director M.S.I. Peiris held the post of Chairman during the interim period following the stepping down of Rohan Senanayake as Deputy Chairman.

Someswaran is a Chartered Accountant in practice for more than 35 years and recently retired from the post of Senior Partner of SJMS Associates, a firm of Chartered Accountants which is associated with DELOITTE in Sri Lanka. He serves on the Audit Committee of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka and Serendib Lands Pvt. Ltd. He also serves on the Board of the European Chamber of Commerce, equity based community and support and training (ECSAT), Business Council of Indonesia, The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce and the Vice President of the International Chamber of Commerce.

He is a member of the tax faculty, Organization for professional Association, International Fiscal Association and Sri Lanka Institute of Directors.

He is also a Secretary of Ashoka Innovators for the public. He is also a fellow member of CMA and a member of its Governing Council and serves on the Board of Pan Asian Power Limited.

SMB Leasing also announced the appointment of P.V. Ranasinghe as Acting CEO effective from July 28 in view of the resignation submitted by J.N.S. Fernando in mid-June.
