Sri Lanka Insurance Company (SLIC), a name synonymous with the many number of social projects concerning the nurturing and development of children, whether in sports or academics, has embarked yet again on a magnanimous task.
The company launched a national scholarship program titled ‘Sri Lanka Insurance Life Suba Pathum’ which provides financial assistance to students who have excelled at the grade five scholarship exams, G.C.E. (O/L) and G.C.E. (A/L) examinations. In total, 300 top ranking students will receive Sri Lanka Insurance ‘Life Suba Pathum’ scholarships
Top four students from each district who excel in the grade five scholarship scheme will receive Rs. 20,000, while the top four district level ranking students of the G.C.E. (O/L) will receive Rs. 40,000 each.
The top 100 students who excel at national level at the G.C.E. (A/L) examination comprising of 25 top ranking students each from the streams Bio, Mathematics, Commerce and Arts will receive Rs. 50,000 each.
If the student’s parents or the guardian is a Sri Lanka Insurance Life Policy Holder the benefit will be offered for a continuous period as an annual payment until the child faces the next national level examination.
The scheme will be in effect for the students who sit for the examinations from 2013 onwards. The qualifying students will have to apply for scholarships under this scheme and the recipients will be chosen from the applications received.
The applications can be collected from any of the SLIC branches or head office, within the month the results are declared by the Ministry of Examinations for the respective examination.
