Standard Chartered Sri Lanka said yesterday it has once again become the proud recipient of yet another accolade – this time Global Finance’s Best Consumer Internet Bank award for 2014. Global Finance announced the First Round winners in the “World’s Best Internet Banks” competition in Asia-Pacific recently and the bank is delighted with the recognition for its internet platform. In the Asia Pacific region Standard Chartered Sri Lanka joins other Standard Chartered country winners Brunei, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Nepal, Philippines, Singapore and Vietnam. Standard Chartered Head – Retail Clients Sanjay Wijemanne commenting on the recognition said: “We are informed that winners were chosen from among entries evaluated by a world-class panel of judges at Infosys, a global leader in consulting, technology and outsourcing. Global Finance editors were responsible for the final selection of winners in the First Round. Selections were based on criteria including strength of strategy for attracting and servicing online customers, success in getting clients to use web offerings, growth of online customers, breadth of product offerings, evidence of tangible benefits gained from internet initiatives, and web site design and functionality. I am very proud of our digital and online banking team.” The internet has transformed the way many consumers and most businesses bank, and continuing improvements in internet offerings represented by this year’s entries show that more significant Internet banking developments are on the cards. This is the 15th year Global Finance has named the World’s Best Internet Banks. First Round winners include Best Corporate/Institutional Internet Banks and Best Consumer Internet Banks at the country level. Standard Chartered on a country award basis has won 19 markets this year, up from 11 in 2013 and six in 2012. These markets are Botswana, Brunei, Ghana, Indonesia, Jersey, Kenya, Korea, Malaysia, Nepal, Nigeria, Oman, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Uganda, Vietnam, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
