Standard & Poor’s Ratings Services was named the credit rating agency of choice for the 12th consecutive year by respondents in the FinanceAsia Fixed Income Research Poll. The poll result was based on votes from more than 800 debt-market participants across Asia Pacific, as well as a small percentage from other markets.

Standard & Poor’s achieved an overall majority of 48% of votes. It also maintained the leading position in all categories as the most influential rating agency for sovereigns, banks, corporates, and structured finance.

Yu-Tsung Chang, Executive Managing Director and Head of Asia-Pacific, Standard & Poor’s Ratings Services, said: “We are honoured to be recognised again by the market for our strong analytical capability and research in the Asia-Pacific region. We take great pride in our analytical team’s critical thinking and thought leadership.”

Standard & Poor’s has the largest network of any rating agency in Asia-Pacific, with on-the-ground operations in all key financial centers. The agency’s dedication is demonstrated by investment in analytical resources in recent years, through measures such as expansion of its regional research and coverage.

The agency recently launched a series of China-related credit reports, including comprehensive surveys on China’s top 50 banks and top 100 corporates. In addition to its regional rating scales in ASEAN and Greater China, it has local partnerships or co-operation agreements with CRISIL (India), Taiwan Ratings Corp. (Taiwan), Shanghai Brilliance (China), Pefindo (Indonesia), RAM Ratings (Malaysia), and TRIS Rating (Thailand).

Chang added: “Standard & Poor’s started providing views on creditworthiness in the Asia Pacific region some 40 years ago, and we’re dedicated, as much as ever, to serving investors and market participants with independent credit opinions across sectors, asset classes and geographies.”
