Stars of Union Assurance shine at annual awards fest

The 1,600 strong staff, management, and the Board of Directors of Union Assurance gathered at the Eagles Lakeside, Attidiya on 30 June, to celebrate a year of stunning achievements and teamwork. The annual awards ceremony was a night of gala celebration themed ‘The Stars of the Challenge’. The awards aim to celebrate and reward the top performers in the organisation and this year the bar was set very high and a total of 181 awards were given out to the best performed individuals and teams.

ChanakaAppuhamy and Eric Upashantha won the coveted Champion of Champions titles for their outstanding performance for life and general sectors, respectively whilst Udan Silva won the award for National Best New Business Producer (Life). In addition the Annual Awards sought to recognise the Best Branch (general) award, which went to the Horana Branch, and the award for Best Region (general) which was won by the Negombo region. The award for the Best Main Branch (life) was won by Thalawathugoda, while the award for Best Regional Manager (life) was clinched by Chamila Amunugama.

General Manager Marketing and Distribution Life Rukman Weeraratne, speaking at the event, stated: “We at UA are proud of you, your commitment, dedication, desire and the drive to achieve the highest standards of performance. We are confident of your ability to take UA in both Life and General insurance segments to an even higher position in the market place in the years to come and see a company that’s even stronger, more vibrant and prouder than it is today.” The annual awards ceremony closed out the night to sounds of gaiety, and friendship, with performances by a number of entertainers.
