REUTERS: Sri Lankan stocks rose for a second straight session on Thursday as investors bought large-caps such as Ceylon Tobacco Co PLC and Bukit Darah PLC in low-volume trade, dealers said.
The main stock index rose 0.09%, or 5.38 points, to close at 5,793.19.
The day’s gains added Rs. 2.24 billion ($ 17.13 million) in market value, while turnover stood at Rs. 247.7 million, well below this year’s daily average of Rs. 837.7 million.
Shares in Ceylon Tobacco rose 0.83% to Rs. 1,149, while Bukit Darah PLC gained 3.24% to Rs. 634.90.
Foreign investors were net buyers of Rs. 12.9 million worth of shares on Thursday, extending their net buying to Rs. 23.15 billion so far this year.
