Suresh joins Orient Finance as CEO

Suresh Amerasekera has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of the Orient Finance PLC with effect from 3 January 2014. He succeeds Rajeewa Bandaranaike who moved back to the Colombo Stock Exchange as the CEO. Harsha was previously with Alliance Finance PLC as the Chief Operating Officer. Suresh was the General Manager/CEO of HDFC Bank from October 2008 to August 2011. He is senior banker with over 30 years of experience in retail and corporate banking, out of which nearly 20 years were at Seylan Bank PLC as an Assistant General Manager overseeing a suburban region in Colombo with 15 branches.  Suresh had his initial training at the Colombo branches of State Bank of India, Bank of America and Citi Bank He is a Life Member of the Association of Professional Bankers Sri Lanka He holds a MBA from Edith Cowan University Western Australia and holds an Advanced Diploma in Management Accounting from the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (UK). He also has completed a Post Graduate Certificate in Asset and Liability Management from the post Graduate Institute of Management, University of Sri Jayawardenepura. Orient Finance Plc, which specialises in lease and hire purchase and factoring. is a subsidiary of Orient Capital Ltd., which holds 57.36% stake in the former. First Capital Holdings Plc holds 20% stake. One of the key strengths of Orient Finance PLC is its close link with Janashakthi Insurance PLC. The Board of Directors of Orient Finance Plc comprises of Dr. Dayanath Jayasuriya PC (Chairman), Prakash Schafter, Ramesh Schafter, Ananda Athukorala, Anil Tittawella, Mrs. Lakshmi Gunatilake and Sarath Wikramanayake.
