Symposium for bank directors today

The Central Bank of Sri Lanka will hold its Bank Directors’ Symposium on the 2nd November 2011.

The symposium will be attended by over 200 Chairmen, Directors and Chief Executive Officers of 33 licensed banks. This is the fourth symposium to be held with a view of updating and sharing the new developments in the regulatory and the banking business reforms in order to ensure banks’ resilience to the challenging environment.

This year’s Directors’ Symposium will focus on a timely topic of “Delivering Stability and Growth in a Challenging Environment”.

Ajith Nivard Cabraal, the Governor of the Central Bank will be delivering the keynote address focusing on the theme of the day.

During deliberations, attention will be given to the importance of ensuring corporate governance, repositioning and strengthening of banking business models in a rapidly growing economy and the need for effective management of the risks in banks.

The event would provide an opportunity to share the current experiences and to have a close interaction between the Central Bank and directors and CEOs of banks.
