Tax Appeal Tribunal appointed

Members to the Tax Appeal Tribunal have been appointed following Cabinet approval.  

Enactment of the Tax Appeals Commission Act No. 23 of 2011 warrants the appointment of an independent Tax Appeal Tribunal to hear all appeals in respect of matters relating to imposition of any tax, levy or duty.



Accordingly on a proposal by President as Finance Minister, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the appointment of the following as the members of the tribunal, Media Minister Keheliya Rambukwella told the weekly Cabinet briefing.  

It will be headed by former Judge of the Supreme Court Justice Hector Yapa while former Director of the Departments of National Budget M. Somasundaram and former Auditor General P. A. Pematillake have been appointed as members. Inland Revenue Department Deputy Commissioner General K.A.P. Kaluarachchi will function as the Secretary to the Commission.
