The country’s oldest registered finance organisation, The Finance Company PLC recently joined an initiative to promote children’s savings accounts in the Uva Province, spearheaded by its Chief Minister Shashinda Rajapaksa.

On an invitation offered by the Chief Minister, TFC took this opportunity to promote the habit of savings amongst hundreds of children who are attending pre schools during the events held in Bibile and Wellawaya on 13 and 17 October respectively.

The occasions were a resounding success with thousands turning up in a show of interest from the public. The Finance Company was able to attract an unprecedented 600 minor savings accounts during the events which showcased the various talents of the children of the area featured through singing and dance acts from each pre-school.

The Finance Company Director/CEO Kamal J. Yatawara was present as a special invitee for the event in Wellawaya. Upon the completion of the events it was his sentiment that The Finance Company PLC would participate in similar initiatives regionally, in line with the company’s strategy of mobilising children’s savings accounts using its extensive branch network and reach.

The Finance Company PLC, which is a household name with over 72 years of unmatched experience, has the largest savings base amongst the non-bank finance sector.
