Three new directors join Swarnamahal Financial Services board

Three new directors have been appointed to the Board of Directors of Swarnamahal Financial Services.

They are Sumathipala Kariyawasam (non-executive director), Sujith Duminda Jayawardhana (non-executive director), and Bathamuray Gedera Wimalarathna Banda (Independent – non-executive director).

Kariyawasam counts over 32 years in the banking and financial sector and holds the Bachelor of Arts degree University of Peradeniya, LLB degree at the open University of Sri Lanka and Post Graduate diploma in management at the University of Sri Jayawardanapura.

He is a member of the Association of Bankers of Sri Lanka (AIB) and FBA (Sri Lanka) professional Banker’s Association of Sri Lanka.

He is a professional banker, primarily served at People’s Bank and retired as the Deputy General Manager-branch operations and was the CEO/General Manager at CFL-TAFE Sri Lanka from May 2007 to May 2010.

He holds directorships with the ETI Finance Limited Swarnamahal Jewellers and EAP Holdings.

Jayawardhana counts over 25 years of experience in finance and management (12 years overseas) in the fields of in manufacturing, constructions, trading and finance.

He is an associate member of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (ACA) and fellow member of Society of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka (FSCMA),

He has worked as a Management Consultant (2001-2011), Finance Director/Head Finance to Hemas FMCG (2006-2007), Rasasi Perfume Industry LLC UAE (1998-2006), The Blantyre Netting Malawi (1995-1998) and CDE Group (1990-1994) and trained at KPMG (1985-1990).

Presently he holds the directorship with ETI Finance, Swarnamahal Jewellers and EAP Holdings.

Banda counts over 37 years of experience in the banking field and holds the Bachelor of Science (Business Administration) Sp degree Vidyodaya University of Sri Lanka, Master of Arts (Buddhist Studies) University of Kelaniya and Diploma in Credit Management.

He is an associate of the Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka and the institute of Credit Management of Sri Lanka.

He is a professional banker, primarily served at People’s Bank and retired as the Assistant General Manager Operation Coordinator Core Banking Project and was the Operation Manager from 2005 to May 2007, at PABC Bank and the Advisor-Banking from May 2007 to November 2012, Lt Notional Savings Bank.

The new appointments are following the resignation of Damain Sunil Abeyratna (Independent non-executive director) and Sunimal Ajith Weerasinghe (Independent non-executive director).
