Confirming its position as a trailblazer in the insurance sector, Union Assurance has gone one step further to bring convenience to its customers by launching its first ever mobile app. The Union Assurance Motor App, which will be available for download from 1 June, is designed to provide easy access to valuable information to all motorists and non-motorists. The app will be able to calculate the location of the closest fuel station, police station, hospital, bank, ATM, garage, supermarket, etc. from wherever in the country the user is. This comprehensive app is available in Sinhala, Tamil, and English, making it user friendly and intuitive. In addition to these, the app also has several options specific for existing and potential UA customers. Through the app, customers have the ability to check on the status of their claims, get a quote, and contact the nearest UA office, at their convenience. The app is also fitted with an ‘easy dial’ function, which gives customers a stress free, one touch direct dial to the UA  call centre in case of an accident or emergency.  Speaking about the app, Union Assurance General Manager – Marketing & General Distribution Nihal Handunge stated that: “UA has always been a company that is completely in-tune with the needs of its customer base. Today, people don’t really have the time to puzzle over maps or stop at roadside shops to find out where the closest bank is. With this app, we aim to cater to the busy lives of not just our customers, but all motorists.” Union Assurance has consistently been at the cutting edge of technology, a fact that was recognised, when the company won the prestigious Celent Model Insurer Asia Award earlier this year. The Celent award is presented to companies in the banking, securities and investments, and insurance sectors that effectively utilise information technology to cater comprehensively to the needs of the modern consumer. UA has been at the forefront in the region, as well as in Sri Lanka, in the drive to modernize the insurance sector – an effort most effective represented by the adoption of the Digital Advisor Toolkit (DAT), which is used by UA advisers via a laptop or tablet. This integration of services through IT has allowed the company to streamline activities and cut down on processing times, by connecting the customer interface with backend operations. Union Assurance General Manager IT Ruwan Bakmedeniya added: “Union Assurance is an innovator. As seen, for instance, with the adoption of the Digital Advisor Toolkit, eMotor and now with the launch of the Union Motor App, it is clear that we have our finger on the pulse of the modern consumer. This fact has been recognised and awarded many times at local and regional level. I am excited to be able to say that this is not the end. We are constantly pushing at the boundaries and there are a lot more exciting innovations that we will be able to share with our customers in the near future.” The Union Assurance Motor App will be available for free download on Google Play, from 1 June.
