Ovation 2015, the District 82 Toastmasters Conference was recently convened in Sri Lanka from 22-24 May in Mount Lavinia Hotel, the event brought together toastmasters from Tamil Nadu and Sri Lanka.
Union Assurance Toastmasters Club (UATMC) was awarded the highest accolade, the Golden Gavel Plus award for the year 2014/15. Additionally the club also had the honour of achieving President’s Distinguished Club status by obtaining 10/10 DCP points – the highest level of recognition offered to a club by Toastmasters International. Incidentally, the UATMC was also recognized as being the earliest achiever of 10/10 DCP points in Sri Lanka.
Club President Princy Dassanayake was awarded with the Triple Crown Award for the completion of advanced leader (ALB) and communication (ACB & ACS) statuses in the past year (2014/15). The Beat the Clock Award, Smedly Award, and Talk-Up Toastmaster awards, were also achieved during the last year.
UATMC Superstar Bernadine Jayasinghe, ALB, ACG, Past President and current Area Governor F5, was awarded the honour for obtaining a Net Club Growth and the area was one of the first to become a Presidents Distinguished Area. Jayasinghe was subsequently installed as the Divisional Director District 82.
All these exceptional accolades come as a result of the exceptional leadership provided by the UATMC ExCo and the unequivocal commitment of the club members.
Union Assurance has created a supportive environment and a culture of learning that fosters talent and fuels ambition. There remains no doubt that the UATMC will continue to grow and set the benchmarks for excellence in the coming years.
