Celebrating 25 years of service to the nation, Union Assurance PLC has always stood by its customers and stakeholders. Today, Union Assurance stands recognised and respected as a company that has delivered a brand promise based on trust.
The company received the top award for brand excellence in the banking and financial sector, competing with many global brands at the 2012 Global Awards for Brand Excellence. The award was presented by the World Brand Congress at a gala ceremony held at the Taj Land’s End Hotel in Mumbai on 23 November, where brand builders from over 30 countries were present.
Union Assurance also received the silver for Service Brand of the Year at the recently concluded SLIM Brand Excellence awards and was the only insurer to be awarded at the SLIM Brand Excellence 2012. The World Brand Congress honours global branding and marketing elite for brand excellence which includes outstanding professionals from some of the world’s biggest and most influential marketing organisations.
Dharshana Amarasinghe, Assistant General Manager – Marketing of Union Assurance says, “The key to our success is what differentiates us from the others – consistently delivering our brand promise of trust for 25 years.”
“Our brand promise is trust. We believe trust has a very broad meaning but we are specific about what we deliver to our customers. We deliver trust through three main brand pillars namely convenience, which means focusing product/process initiatives which will deliver convenience to the customers.
“The other one is transparency, since insurance is bit complex we always try to make insurance easily understood by customers by making it more transparent, and also being respectful to all our stakeholders. These are the three values through which we deliver trust to the customers,” he added. Union Assurance has not only been recognised for brand excellence but has also been recognised for its annual report which was judged the best annual report in the insurance sector and was also recognised as the winner for Corporate Governance Disclosure by the South Asian Federation of Accountants.
The company also received the National Business Excellence Award – Gold in the insurance sector for the third consecutive year in 2011 and silver award for Excellence in Performance Management Practices for the second consecutive year in 2011 from the National Chamber of Commerce Sri Lanka. Union Assurance was also the only insurer to clinch four awards at the Annual Report Awards 2011 conducted by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka and won the Overall Excellence in Annual Financial Reporting – Silver, Insurance Sector – Gold, Corporate Governance Disclosure – Gold and Corporate Responsibility Reporting – Bronze Awards, clearly differentiating the organization from others as it lives the brand consistently, delivering the brand promise of trust. In all its manifestations, the corporate brand ‘Union Assurance’ stands for trust, the pay-off line ‘trust in your tomorrow today’ also shows the company as a futuristic brand which helps consumers plan their future with the most trusted insurer in Sri Lanka.
